Journaling Helps
It starts with a journal, blank pages waiting to be filled in, a blank canvas waiting to have ink or pencil scribbled onto it. The hardest part is just starting. It is hard to be vulnerable even to yourself when writing down your thoughts and feelings. A journal can be your safe space. The pages can be kept or torn out and discarded, do what feels best to you.
If you need some help getting started we are here to help!
Buy a Journal.
Date the first page with tomorrows date and write the following at the top of the page: Today I am grateful for: list 5 things that you are grateful for today.
Date the second page: Mindful Observation: Take a walk and write down all the things you see on your walk. Be present. Live in the present moment.
Date the third page: Self Reflection: What do you need to let go of? What do you hold onto that no longer serves you. Self awareness practice.
Date the fourth page: Goal Setting: Set 5 goals for the upcoming week/month. As we change so do our goals, dreams, and aspirations. Set goals.
Date the fifth page: Creative Expression: Doodle something, anything, without judgement.
Date the sixth page: Letter to your future self: write a short letter to yourself to open at the end of the year, what do you hope for yourself?
Date the 7th page: Celebration: Often we forget to celebrate! You have completed 7 days of journaling, how do you feel? How will you celebrate?
Now that you have filled out your journal, you have prepared yourself for a successful week of journaling! Next, pick a time that will work best for you to do your journaling. Where can you carve out 10 minutes to allow this practice to take place. I jounral once in the morning to reflect on the dreams that I have had the night before and then once in the afternoon to clear my head. Add it to your calendar with a reminder, this will help you start the habit in the beginning. Once you start to journal on a consistent basis it will be as if you always had done it. Good luck and enjoy! Let us know how it goes!
